Have you ever wanted to plot your beam antenna pattern quickly for several
frequencies to find where the beam is tuned for performance and not just a
good SWR?
Antpat is a special software program that not only allows you to achieve the
above task but gives you flexibility to use any radio signal source for
plotting your antenna pattern. The signal source can be RFI, CW, SSB, AM, FM
etc. There are several software filters that allow smoothing of individual
patterns, as well as summing, to greatly reduce the normal signal
fluctuations from the above signals as well as QSB. This allows you to use
most any station on the air without the need of their being aware of your
using them as a signal source
These patterns provide you information on:
Testing that new antenna and over time to check for problems (traps , etc.)
It can be done periodically without generating an on air signal.
Frequency of best beam performance.
Effects on pattern when changing/adding antennas nearby,
Pattern changing when raising and lowering the antenna.
Your antenna pattern from nearby and DX stations.
Propagation effects on your antenna pattern.
The program allows you to overlay EZENEC (tm) patterns to compare simulated
patterns to your real beam pattern. This allows you to see the effects of
propagation as well as comparing to expected performance.
The program requires a simple circuit attached to you S meter circuitry and
your computer. A fast computer is not required.
Go to http://hometown.aol.com/azantennas for more information real patterns
and download a demo copy. The program is cheap and you will be surprised at
the information you can glean from your real antenna pattern.
