Thanks to all the responses re the 7730 query.  Interesting that there was no internal tone setup even a single freq adjustable tone.  Will have to get a book and see how to hook up a tone board to that switch.  OK on the lack of battery also.  Will probably figure out how to run the memory off of a external battery of some source eventually.  Thanks again for all the emails on that radio.
