The 6146 will work for 6146B providing you run them at 6146 ratings, no
more than 250 ma key down plate current. You won't get as much power
from the 6146. The 6146 has lower power dissipation ratings.
You will always need to neutralize when you change finals, the change
will be more drastic (possibly require changing a fixed capacitor in the
neutralization network to achieve the range for the 6146) going to 6146.
