Try some mineral sprits. It is supposed to dissolve wax. Of course a heat
gun would work but the parts might suffer heat stroke.

Subject: [Kenwood] Help Removing WAX from PLL board of TS-940
Does anyone know of an easy way to remove or disolve the
wax that is poured into the heterodyne osc section of a pll board?
This is where the trouble lies and I would like to get at the culprit.
Some have the wax and some dont...unfortunately this does.
Nasty Crap!
Any help with would be greatly appreciated.
