[Kenwood] Kenwood 570 Powering on

I have a TS-570 that is about 3 years old.  It has started a new, strange,
behavior.
I have my TS-570 Power Supply, SM-220, 2 meter PACKET transceiver P.S. and
TNC P.S., and an old XT PC all on one heavy duty surge protection power
strip.  My normal operation is to turn on the power strip which powers up
everything I need to get PACKET running.  Then, if I wish to turn on the
TS-570 I press the POWER switch on the front of the rig.  The TS-570 comes
on, HELLO is displayed for a very short time, and then the rig goes to the
last frequency is was used on when it was last turned off.  This is how it
has worked for the last three years.  Now something has changed.  When I
turn on the power strip the TS-570 turns on by itself, without me pressing
the POWER switch on the rig.  Instead of displaying HELLO and going to the
last used frequency it displays 14.000.
After the power strip is first turned on I can switch the TS-570 on or off
using it's own front panel POWER switch and all is normal.  The only
abnormal operation is when it and the power strip are both off and I turn
the power strip on.
I have never turned the power strip off with the TS-570 still powered up,
nor have I had any power line failures or shut downs with the TS-570 turned
on.
Other than this new trait of turning itself on when power is applied to
it's power supply the rig seems to be operating normal.  I have never
changed the battery in this rig.  Could the battery be low and causing
this?  Does anyone have any suggestions?
