[Kenwood] TS-870S & HEIL PRO-SET PLUS W/HC-5

Well I've just acquired the Pro set with HC5 ( not sure  what Proset plus 
is?) Even though it came ( second hand ) with an Icom adaptor, the audio 
connection is compatible, but not the footswitch which I don't use.


The audio sounds just like all Heil units to me i.e. awful!, but then I'm 
hard to please. Bottom line is that it does exactly what it says on the 
can, and you can't ask for more that that- go and get one. None of the DSP 
bells and whistles seem to make any improvement to my ear, altho' the TX 
equalisation with bass boost might be better for everyday QSOs as opposed 
to contests. I wouldn't dream of using it other than in contests in fact. I 
still think my Shure 444 is unbeatable for audio quality.


Oh did I mention, that's just my opinion!
