[Kenwood] Kenwood TS-700A CW problem

Stan,

If your "keys" are actually electronic keyers, are you sure they're set 
for the correct kind of keying (i.e. low voltage positive DC voltage to 
ground).

When I first tried my keyer on my TS-820 the reverse was true.  It's 
keying circuit functioned like an old grid-block keying system (high 
negative voltage to ground)so it had to be jumpered differently.

You could verify if this is the case by simply plugging in a standard 
6.33mm (1/4 inch) phone plug into the key jack and see if it still causes 
a carrier to be sent.

From memory, I don't think the TS-700 uses any keying relay, but rather 
has a solid state keying circuit.  If the test proves that there is still 
a fault, it is probably the keying transistor that's defective.
