I could be entirely wrong since the manual is difficult to understand as
you know, but I believe the TX display to be the area we think of as the
sub display. If the sub were not on, then the info there would be the
TX info if you were in split mode. I think the idea of this adjustment
is to make sure that the two menu items are set to zero. If you press
the up or down keys, the values will change from zero in steps of 20.

I think the difficulty here is because the adjustment is again in steps
of 20. Mine sounds the closest when LSB is set to -40 and USB is set to
20. I've never gotten any bad reports regarding my SSB audio, but then
I've not spent much time soliciting comments either.

I often run the high cut 3-4 notches counter-clockwise to cut the QRM -
it works as I expect. When I cut in the 1.8KHz filter, the received
signal sounds as if the carrier is in the wrong place - the resulting
audio is too high pitched and devoid of lows. So, I crank the high-cut
control 4 notches counter-clockwise again, and the received signal
sounds perfect. I've not played with the carrier points to see how that
affects the 1.8 filter operation. I'll give that a try.

Several months ago I placed some info I had deciphered from the manuals
on a web page: http://home.sprintmail.com/~sentek/950tips.htm . If you
have anything to contribute to that, let me know and I'll add it. Maybe
someone can give us some better guidance on this carrier point
procedure, and I can add that there as well.
