Tim,
What is the ALC meter indicating? I have a 570 and get good reports with
either the Heil Gold line or HC-3. The ALC indication seldom reachs full
scale. I have to confess that I'm unfamilar with the characteristics of the
MFJ microphone. I believe that you may have 1) something broken, or 2)a menu
item is not set in range. You should not have to run an amplified microphone
with the gain wide open.
Good luck, Eric W1EL
