Roger,
To peak the transmitter driver, first hook up dummy load to antenna
connector and set the screen grid switch on the back of the 530 to off. Set
the drive control to the center. Set the band switch to the desired band.
Set the meter to ALC. Set mode switch to CW or tune. Tune to the frequency
indicated for that band in the table on page 25. Set the Send-Receive
switch to Send and adjust the slug in the correct coil for that band
(L23-L31) for maximum ALC indication on the meter. Do this for each band.
The correct coil set is the one just to the right of the 12BY7 driver tube
at the back of the RF board and just in front of the final tube compartment
indicated in the diagram on page 25 with the words DRIVE coil. The other
coil sets are for the receiver antenna and mixer which you indicate works
OK, so don't touch those.
