[Kenwood] Kenwood TS-930S Microphone Impedance Setting?

I own a Kenwood TS-930S along with the matching MC-60 microphone -- both
of early 1980s vintage. My question is regarding the correct microphone
impedance to use. The MC-60 can be switched between 500 and 50,000 ohms.
Documentation (TS-930S and MC-60 user manual and TS-930S service manual)
doesn't really make it clear which should be used.
The service manual implies that the rig is configured by default for 500
ohms with the MCL jumper, but can use 50,000 ohms by moving the jumper to
MCH. I checked the schematics and drawings and was unable to find these
jumpers, but I did find the MCL "connection".
From an operational perspective, the ALC seems much more responsive at
50,000 ohms. At 500 ohms, the ALC meter seems pretty sluggish.
Any input would be appreciated!
