Steve et al:

This is one of my major complaints with my TS 2000. The audio chain for FM
in my rig produces very high pitched audio at a lower level than with the
other modes. I have also noticed that 2 Meter SSB audio, while sounding the
same as audio on HF is much lower, requiring me to greatly increase the mic
gain when operating on that mode.

I am assuming that you have located and attempted to increase the FM mic
gain via the menu, and it didn't help your audio. After experimenting with
several different mics and settings, it appears that the Kenwood MC60A mic,
with preamplification, and with the bass boost TX equalization setting
produces nice sounding audio on my rig. Of course I tend to forget to return
the settings when I return to HF and am frequently reminded by others who
complain of excess bass, and visa versa when I go to FM and get complaints
of "tinny" audio. It has been a very annoying problem for me.
