Hello-
I have a question about the Kenwood TS830. I have replaced the stock 455 IF
filter (a Murata Ceramic CFJ455K5) with a Murata CFJ455K13, therefore
changing the bandwidth from about 2.7 out to 3.1. However, the audio sounds
very constricted. I don't currently have a service manual, (one is on the
way), but I did follow the tips in the back of the Ops manual for checking
the carrier points, and they seem to be fine, but it does not sound right.
Output seems down a little below what I would expect. This is a new radio
for me, so I did not operate it alot before making the filter change, and I
may be dealing with more than one or two issues at the same time.
Suggestions would be appreciated. (I do have a small circuit board I can
wire directly to the filter pads on the 830 circuit board and then plug in
each filter to see what the differences are, and I will try that next)
This is a great radio to work on, and I think it would be a great deal of
fun to operate, but I really need to get it working right.
Thanks again for any help!
Duncan
