John, assuming that SSB receive is OK and the problem is associated
with both the mike gain and the speech processsor, the trouble area is
quite limited.
Either Q146,147 MIKE PREAMP or Q82-84 MIKE AMP or Q87 BUFFER AMP (all
in the SIGNAL UNIT)
Mine has never needed repair but it does not get heavy use. All the
praise I hear about Cliff would lead me to have him fix it if you
don't want to tear into it. If you have a friend who has worked on one
of these sophisticated MP controlled rigs (I got my FCC Phone license
before transistors so anything with transistors is sophisticated to me
HI HI) would be willing to help.
