[Kenwood] 850 Problem

There is no diddle in the 850. It is a sealed mechanical encoder.
Check the back side of the memory battery for leakage, there are several
data line that run underneath it and when the acid starts eating all sorts
of strange things happen.

problem with a TS940 several years ago. In my case it was the photo diodes
in the tuning circuit. They were shot and I replaced them. Maybe, if
you're lucky, all you need to do is diddle the adjustment(s) associated with
the tuning circuitry.
