If you have a chance to try before the buy on the SM-230, I would sure give
it a try Roy. Maybe late batches of the SM-230 were more stable. Also coming
across a SM-220 isn't hard, but many don't have panadapter modules in them,
and the modules are not made anymore. So it is a bit more difficult to find
a good SM-220 and the right module, but worth it if you can, and both are in
good working order. Keep in mind that at least on the SM-220, there are
changeable bezels for mounting over the front of the crt display.
