[KCDXC] More facts on VP1A

I may still have some of the blank QSL cards like the one in the newsletter.
We got Black & Veatch to print those cards and some of you will recall that
we used the Black & Veatch main frame computer to enter all the QSO data and
issue the QSL cards. It took many hours of people sitting at terminals
entering the data. In addition to the HF stations, we had some VHF
operations including a 50 MHz beacon.

Subject: [KCDXC] More facts on VP1A

K0CS reports that in the article on VP1A in the recent KC DX News, the
Editor left out that the club not only finished 1st in N. America, but #1 in

the world in Multi-single.

K0CS said , "The VP1A operation was #1 Multi-Single in the World in 1980.
Give me a few days and I will dig up the data. Basically there were (3)
Multi-Single contenders. - Belize (Kansas City DX Club), A VP2 (North
Florida DX Club), Italy (Club Name ?)
Station VP1A nosed out the other two stations is a very close (few thousand
points) battle." DE K0CS.

Thanks, so much, Steve, for the additional info and catching my omission of

facts. It was an impressive contest achievement, especially back in the days

of paper dupe sheets and hand logging!!!

I found the write up by N0RB very interesting to read and enjoyed his unique

impression on the whole operation. Maybe we could have some of the other ops

that went to VP1A to write up a few paragraphs about their experiences??
(W0MW, K0CS, K0BRO, W0AR, KB0X, AB0I) Sounds like more great stuff for the
newsletter. How about it ??

73,
AB0X
