Well said, and oh so true.
We always had almost a ZERO balance at the end of the year, Dues were so
important at the first of the year and Dayton had to be paid in Feb.

Thanks, Bill, for your comments.

I want everyone to know that several weeks ago, I pledged to Alex in private

emails that I would use better and more detailed accounting methods that
would fulfill the requirements of the new constitution!!!! In fact, I told

him several times .

He and two others have implied in emails on the reflector that I have
refused to make any changes from the old, casual system we had for 35+
years.

Hell, I don't even want to be Treasurer! But I took the job when no one else

would take it, when Rick was required to leave town, because the KCDXC
needed someone.

I opened the present official account for the club at my bank. I had to put
MY social security number on the account so interest earned was charged to
me for state and federal income taxes. No club account can legally be opened
without a state and federal tax exempt number. No one was was willing to
step up and take the hit on this except me. For the last 3.5 years the the
interest has been charged to me. Thank goodness, I have a wonderful wife
who understands ham radio!

At the point in time(about 3 & 1/2 years ago), the treasury was almost zero
and we didn't even have enough money to send newsletters out that month. I
paid for the printing costs and stamps out of my own pocket that month! K0LW

knows this is true!

I never asked for any reinbursment of any kind from the club. I just did it

because I love this club more than anything next to my family.

I am not saying these things to brag or seek pats on the back, but the
implications of me being unwilling to change accounting methods are false
and need to stop! I deserve more respect.

Alex needs to compromise and put the money in the account because I need to
make the payments to the hotel so we can be guaranteed the suite. If this
is not done in the next few days, he is going to jepordize our suite plans
for Dayton.

THEN, If I do such a bad job as Treasurer, so that the members aren't happy,

I will gladly resign or they can have a special meeting about me.

All I want to do is write the newsletter!!!!!!!! I have no desire to be
anything in the future except editor of the newsletter.

Any further delay on the deposit of the money is going to seriously hurt the

club's repretation and ruin a really beautiful organization.

It is time for a compromise from Alex.

 73 to all,

Mike, AB0X

Here is a copy of an email I sent to Alex last night. I think it might be
good for all to see.....

Hi Alex. I've been following all the email/reflectors activity closely, of
course, but I haven't commented publicly because A) I don't think I have all

the facts involved; B) Even if I had all the facts I'm not sure I'm the one
to make a judgment; C) I have very good friends on all sides of the issues;
D) I've seen many flame wars via email and reflectors which just stir up the

dust without solving anything; E) I'm sorry this has become such a public
issue, since it makes it tough for everyone to save face in the end.

All that being said, I do have some thoughts. In my opinion, the club has
been going in a very positive direction in the past months. New meeting
place, after-meeting discussions, interesting programs, new ideas for
Dayton, new faces at meetings whom we haven't seen for a long time, new and
improved website, going 'green' with the newsletter. I know personally that
you and I and Mike and others have spent many hours bringing about these
changes.

I hope that the current disagreement is a only a growing pain, and won't
develop into something that will destroy what all of the members want - a
fellowship of old and new friends with common interests working together to
have a good time at something we love - ham radio and the arts of DXing and
Contesting.

In the past, we were happy to know that our meager finances were being
handled with trust, and that we were keeping our heads above water.
Specifics weren't called for. I can't remember a meeting when someone asked
for a detailed report, because we knew that we simply had dues as income and

a newsletter and the hospitality suite as expense. We knew that it was
always a squeeze to get the newsletters paid for each year, and we knew that

the hospitality suite at Dayton couldn't happen without the generous Midland

contributions made possible by W0JLC. So we lived with that, and didn't
worry too much, for many years.

Now things have changed for the better, and expectations have risen. With
our success comes additional responsibility. The club finances have never
been stronger, and the members are right when they look for accountability.
They should expect a financial report monthly (at the monthly club meeting,
not in a public Internet forum), and they also have the right to expect our
transactions to be timely and appropriate.

I trust my old friend Mike completely, and you, as a newer friend, I trust
just the same. I know that everyone has an opinion based on what they read,
and that many want to jump in and try to help, but we all need to sit down
together and get to an agreement. The resolution must come quickly, and I
hope we can get a special meeting arranged right away....maybe at Perkins if

not at the library. Then all of us can have the discussion face to face,
without airing it out in this piecemeal manner.

Countless hours have been spent over the years by faithful, trustworthy and
hardworking volunteers coming together for our common good as the Kansas
City DX Club. I ask that we don't let it fall apart. I'm sure we can get all

this resolved in a friendly and peaceful way, and get back to DX and the
Contests.

The wireless telegraph is not difficult to understand. The ordinary
telegraph is like a very long cat. You pull the tail in New York, and it
meows in Los Angeles. The wireless is the same, only without the cat.
