Larry & All,
Thanks, for the nice comments. I made the mistake of trying to make the
newsletter better, with real color pictures and all. Old dull, print only,
will open with acrobat early versions like 3 or 4.
K0VBU was going to offer help on the simple change needed to make it work
for all.Guess he got busy or something. However, what's the use if only 8
guys are getting the newsletter via the internet ??
Bill learned that version 5.1 can be downloaded at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/ When it is loaded go to the edit,
then click preferences. Then click options and go to web browsers and
unclick "Fast web view". and close.
Then it will work perfect. It might even work on early versions. He didn't
experiment with them.
I am not a computer expert. So, if still have trouble, call VBU and he can
walk you thru it.
The Search and Pounce article is really worth reading for you contesters who
would like to find out what some real experienced operators do in big
contesters. I encourage you all to read it.
Even though some nice comments have come in tonight, my purpose was not to
fish for compliments, but to try and help the club with financial woes. We
could save $50-75 a month this way! And KB0U has a lot less work mailing,
stamping, and going to PO.
If 50 % of the club doesn't step up and ask for electronic versions only,
it may be end. Remember, you can print from acrobat pdf form and it will
look exactly like the printed version!
Thanks, to those of you who care. AB0X

Mike: I have been an avid reader of the KCDXC Newsletter for years....and I
have enjoyed every one of them. Even the ones that poke fun at me....Having
done a newsletter for another group, I know how hard it is to gather, type,
print and listen to the complaints. I feel that you do an excellent job and
I wish to thank you for your efforts. I, for one would like to receive the
newsletter via the internet....however, I have developed problems with this
issue.
First, the laptop (Compaq) is my choice computer. For some reason, when I
go to read the newsletter, it will download it into Word 2000. If someone
can tell me how to change to Acrobat 5.0 I would be greatful. The other
computer (the one I am typing on now) is a G _ _ damn Gateway....down more
than up.....today, when I tried reading the newsletter it did fine until I
got to page three (the EI8...) article when Acrord32 illegal operation error
popped up and locked the computer. I can go no further....any help here is
appreciated. By the way, it downloaded it in Acrobat 4.0....anyway, those
are my thoughts...either way you would like to do it is fine with
me....again, I really appreciate your work.....73 Larry K0RWL

KCDXC Members,
If we don't have more people than this participating in the electronic
newsletter, it's a waste of time. The whole purpose of doing this was to
save money for the club! We spend lots of cash every month for printing and
postage.
It is a pain to do all the extra work, literally hours of it, and show no
benefit.
Every single person who reads this email tonight can get the newsletter on
line!
This is typical KCDXC apathy. We all hear about how everyone wants to do
something for the club. Well, step up to the plate, and send in your request
immediately.
