I forgot to mention that Tom Rose (contest chairman) also announced that
there will be some new contest awards
He listed them at the meeting and maybe he could list them again here...
I also said I would sponsor an award (in a prior EMail)
For the individual that made the most amount of contacts for the year.
Doesn't have to be contest.. just contacts.. all activity included (HF of
course)
We will need to figure out how Multi contests will be tallied..
Obviously One person doesn't make ALL the contacts..
Since writelog allows for Operators names we should probably go by that..
If you forget to change that name.. I guess you're out of luck.
While I'm thinking of it..
Is there any interest in a program by one of the writelog users to show the
functions that are available?
I'm not sure if anyone has one of those LCD projection deals but it might
make for a nice program...
IDEAS....
Who is responsible for Programs?.. Can we get that responsiblity assigned?
Last night we had a chance to see a tape but had a lot of business to take
care of..
I suppose we'll have another chance to see that tape.. maybe we can schedule
it in?
I'm all for "relaxed", "laid back", but without ANY structure.. there may be
less accountablity.
I'm not interested in hanging anyone.. but if people know who is responsible
for stuff they may be more apt to try to help with certain things. I'm real
excited about the way things are going.. I hope we can build on the energy.
President- ?
Vice President- ?
Secretary- ?
Treasurer- Get rooms at Dayton.. Pay the bills..
Newsletter Editor- Write newsletter
Contest Chairman- Lists weekly contest.., promotes contesting, establish
awards, maintain awards records,
Webmaster: - maintain web page.. update news at regular intervals.
I know everything isn't written in stone... There's always room for
flexiblity but basic responsibilities would be good.
Another way to approach it is to say... what things need to be done in a
basic DX/Contesting club?
List those things... Then assign the tasks to officers or members... at
least everyone would know who's doing what.
This may be easier.. as people already know what they do.
Rick schedules Dayton rooms..
Mike collects info from writers, writes additional and assembles the
newsletter
Rick.. copies the newletter and send it out
Chuck.. gets newsletter from Mike converts it to PDF and sends itto Bill
ETC ETC... seems like an exercise but I think it would help in the long
run...
I think it would especially help those officers looking for a break...
I'm also interested in the history of the club.. I sat next to Bill AK0A at
dinner and asked him a few questions like who was the President in the late
80's and early 90's.. and there after... he was able to shine light on some
events that happened during those times... Seems like AB0X is kindof a club
historian.. I wonder if Mike would be willing to compile (with the help of
others) a list of Officers, events etc.. that occurred in a timeline type of
record... In 2000 7 or 8 guys (name them) went to Belize.. Score 1.8 Mil in
an all carribean contest
We know that the club started in 1952 by 3 guys and Lee Bergren was one of
them. This got everyone to realize that this is the 50 Anniversary of the
start of the club..
This could be a special time in the history of the club... some things you
never know... The timeline could also be a document we could present to new
members. It would give a quick synopsis of the history of the club.. answer
a lot of questions and explain what the club does all in one document..
IDEAS
Does any of this sound like information others would like to have. Or do you
all know this kind of stuff and I have a lot of catching up to do? I may die
tomorrow.. I want to absorb everything I can which may enrich my life.. like
sunrises.. I want to see every one.
