Thought I would throw this in....and NO I DID NOT go out to Tom's due to
family commitments (but I DID make it a point to work you guys on all 6
bands).

Agreed....thats what the rules state.
> I remember a year ago specifically asking the KCDXC about contesting and
was
> told that it is primarily a DX club.
As it IS the KC D X Club I would say that is 50 percent of the operation.
Now I know there are others that will go back further in time and tell about
all the wallpaper that members have from contests. But I KNOW for a fact
there was (and hopefully is still) a contest contingent in the club.
Personally I am getting the station together and next years schedule will
allow me to be more active, so I am looking forward to next season. I don't
know who might have given you the idea that there wasn't any contesting in
the club, but they were wrong or maybe forgot about the operations of the
recent past at the old NX0I site in Mayview. MANY certificates were won from
there in the mid 90's. And Steve and Mike and AB0X and AK0A can tell you
about all the contests of legend from AB0I's place up north. Also check old
results and the club was very prominately listed in the club results.

Hmmmm...I remember the contest column was a regular fixture during the mid
90's

Yes and no. I think right now there is alot of personal commitments and
things that have prevented the "winning" members from taking part.

I join a lot of clubs so lets not use that....lol. Time will tell if I
continue being a member. Anything can happen.

I would place it somewhere. 10M points is alot to NOT put towards a club
total. That is for you guys to decide where.

Anyway that is my thoughts on the subject. I will say that in order to have
active members, it needs to be fun. Many of us can remember the contests out
at Jerry's with a room full of people. I know I was in awe watching K0OU,
K0RWL, KB0U, AK0A,AB0X, K0VBU and NX0I running stations and wishing I could
be one-tenth the class of operators they are. What great memories. When I
grow up I want to be just like them....
Whatever you guys decide, it is STILL a great job for all involved. Just
wished I could have helped in some way.
