Take a look at the website, and you'll see a picture of just such a thing (the 70's) - it was a common delight to remove a clock from the bulkheads in ETA school (and RMA, too), remove the field-coil and reinstall it inversly - this would cause the clock to run backwards, as the actual motor and drive assembly was inside a copper enclosure that fit inside the field-coil.
