Subject: Re: Ham License Re-exam
Hi Mike,
I had a similar experience with my expired license in the late 70s. I took all the tests in one day including the Extra Class which required the code.
To prepare, I didn't have a paper-tape TG-34A code machine like the one in the K6NCG shack but I had something new called cassette tapes!
The code test was not too bad once I calmed down and realized I was going to survive the experience. My ET school training has served me well
over the years, not just for amateur radio but also for every job I've had. I work the local repeaters now with my Japanese built radio (sad) but my
ham friends have convinced me to get on 160 meters so I'm building a homebrew rig to work the locals . The big challenge is the antenna for 160 and
I don't have a final plan for this yet. I'm replacing my old R-22 AC Condenser with a new R-410a unit, so back to work for me. 73's my friend.

Subject: K6NCG Stereo Amp
Hi Bill: I went though ET-A School in December 1963 to October 1964. I was a member of the
Ham Shack until we graduated, and left T.I. Our people all worked the Alaskan earth quake
in April, 1964. I still keep in contact with Pete Van Putton, WA6UDU, and Bill Crowley, K1NIT.
Your Stereo amp looks great. I shipped a Kilo watt power supply home with lots of spare parts
that I got at the Ham Shack and at the radio surplus stores on Market street in S.F. I got some
used wood from the supply dept. where they shipped from at T.I. and made a big box and
painted it Blue. I put my address on it and we got a Navy Pick-Up, probley from Supply Dept.
took the big box over their, and they weighed it and I payed for the shipping, and sent it home.
When I went home on leave from ET school it was waiting for me in the garage. Dad put it away until I got home. My call at the time was WA0EBH. I am now K0EBH. My licence expired when I was in the Navy on active duty, so I didn't renew it at that time. I didn't think
I could pass the code test at that time. I have gotten interested in Ham Radio now that I am
retired from John Deere, and the Naval Reserve. Over a 4 month period took and passed all
the tests, Technician, General, and Amateur Extra. I will never let my licence expire again.
I have to get my station connected and back on the air. I am going to practice my C.W. and
get on 40 meters. It will be slow at first, but fun. 73's and have a great day. Mike Shimp,
K0EBH
