Oh boy does that bring back memories.  I was there from December (?) 
1962 until  Sept 20, 1963.   It saved me from those cold firefighting 
watches at 4 AM.  It's hard to recall all the guys I met back then 
but then but a few are "Doc" Beck on six meters, Vince W1OOW, Ken 
K4OKZ and Duane the first class PO that had a hard time with the 
code.  My old call was WA6GUY, General class and almost always 
operated 40 meter CW on the ole HT37.  Who built the "TO keyer" (?) 
that sometimes had a mind of its own?

I remember sitting at the front desk one Saturday or Sunday afternoon 
and hearing the old tower come crashing down.  I'm not sure who 
acquired it but the new 80 footer was nice.  I think we helped paint 
it.  We had a 40 or 80 meter inverted Vee on that tower also.  The SF 
harbor guys complained about the florescent light bulbs hanging from 
it.........

We made Jacobs ladders from old 5KV transformers.  I recall the Mt 
Talmapias Field Day effort one June.  A few of us would sometimes 
stay up all Friday night after school and operate until Saturday 
afternoon. I remember to ole 40 cup coffee maker too.  I once fell 
asleep while talking to someone on 40 meter CW.  I woke up sending 
gibberish not knowing how long I was asleep.  I always wondered who I 
was talking (?) to and what he thought of my new form of Morse 
code..... I still operate CW, even on 10 GHz, lots of fun!

I went to crypto school after ET A school and then to the fleet and 
DE1026.  Had a good time there and finally learned how to trouble 
shoot.  It's still is with me today as I got to be pretty good at it.

I got my Extra sometime in the 70s and switched my call to N6CA.  I 
got into Oscar 6 and then VHF and up and have been very active in 
microwaves ever since.  I think working for several years on the SPS 
10 and 6 radars and the SLR-1 ECM gear helped get my interest going. 
I got out of the Canoe club in 1967 after a couple of  WesPac cruises 
as an ETR2.  We are fortunate here in the Southwest to have many guys 
interested in microwaves. My web site has much of the stuff I've done 
in amateur radio since then, lots of fun all of these years.

I worked on FLIRs and laser communications for about 24 years the 
became self employed; still doing that as Angle Linear producing 
PHEMT front ends and filters and custom RF equipment;

I have contacted Dave K4TO from time without knowing he was a K6NCG 
guy around the time I was there.

vintage K6NCG QSLs.

What ever happened to all of the QSLs that were above the door?
