Hi Byron,
I was at TI from 1963-64 in ETA school and spent a lot of time over there as
well. The club is not on the air these days and TI it self has been
returned to the city of San Francisco. I doubt that it has been on the air
since the late 80s but I might be off a little about that. We moved back
to the Bay Area from San Diego in 1987. Since TI is open to the public now
I sometimes stop off there on my motorcycle and just tour the island
refreshing memories.
I am curious where the club station was located in the mid-50s when you were
there. In the 60s is was located in a building on the very west edge of the
island about midway between the main gate and the NW corner of the island in
a fenced off three room building that used to house the RADIAC calibration
facility. Some time in the late 60s or early 70s it was moved to a building
east of the "O-Club" or "CPO-Club" closer to the gate.
