Hi All,

If you are programming frequencies in a VHF or UHF radio, you might be
interested in the following..

you can get the repeater data for any region here:
http://k5ehx.net/repeaters/qrepeater.php

put in your zipcode (use the GEO Search box), hit "Go".

look in the left hand window, there is a list of repeaters.

find the repeater nearest you. click on the "20" tag
underneath it. this will show ALL of the repeaters within
a 25mile radius of your closest repeater. (yes, i know,
it should be 20 miles. there is an error on the page.
if you don't like the pre-provided distances, edit the URL
for whatever distance you want by changing the maxdist=X
parameter in the address bar).

got the list? scroll to the bottom of the left hand window
and export the file as Travel Plus format. save it to your
desktop. the file name will be "k5ehx_repeaters.tpe"

start FTB8800.

click Import/Export from the header.

select "Clear all before import"

click "Import CSV/TPE"
change the "Files of Type" to TPE.
select "k5ehx_repeaters.tpe"
click OK if some errors regarding channel numbering pop up.

done.

want fewer repeaters? go back and change the distance.
want more repeaters? go back and change the distance.

---> NOW FOR THE REALLY INTERESTING PART:

regularly travel the same long route (e.g. to relative's house)?

go back to
http://k5ehx.net/repeaters/qrepeater.php

find the "Directions" boxes. put in your two endpoints.
e.g. "New York, NY" & "Boston, MA".

click Go. wait time is longer now... higher math being done :*)

see results -- all of the repeaters within N miles of your route.
CSV file must be used to download, currently.
