Fw: Fw: [K6BW] field day 2006

The 6M yagi seems to work well. I played around for about an hour in the ARRL VHF contest this morning, and worked 50 some stations in more than 30 grids. There was some great multi-hop E-skip this AM into W1/2/3/8.
There is some bad line noise that seems to only affect 6M, and it seems to build in the morning and disappear in the late afternoon. I think some lose hardware on a pole is expanding in the heat of the sun, causing the noise.
I was talking with Bill, and we discussed possibly operating from the K6BW shack for Field Day. We currently don't have a generator available or any decent batteries. Also, it's questionable how much setup/take down help is available. I will have started the summer semester, and my homework load might prevent me from participating full time. We haven't heard back from Olompali, which will cost money that the club currently doesn't have, and operating from the field at K6BW requires permission from the CG, violating the "out of sight, out of mind" policy.
On the down side, it won't be much like field day if we operate at the shack, although it should still be lots of fun. I can bring up my large BBQ gas grill, and I'll set up the stations prior to the contest. We could operate 4D, with 4 stations: a Yaesu FT1000MP and Kenwood TS930 for HF, the TS2000 for HF and VHF, and a 4th station if someone wants to bring a QRP rig or two. There are good antennas installed for 160M-6M. I've been trying to restore a 2el 40M yagi, and we might be able to stick that on the water tower the morning of the contest. With 100W, I have the station set up so there is little or no interference between bands, even if multiple stations are on the air at the same time.
This would be the best for me, as it would allow me to give my WRTC station a good workout on CW and SSB prior to flying to Brasil. It's up to the club as a whole however - what's your opinion?

Field Day update... we seem to be gravitating to Hamilton. Have applied to
the State Parks for Olompoli, so that is still an option, but we don't seem
to be able to locate a generator. Without one, it will be difficult to
provide lighting at night at Olompoli.
Dave, N2NL has been working on a 6 meter and 2 meter beam. He has the
6-meter beam in place, mounted above the 20 meter beam. After a struggle,
it is now working FB! 6 meters has been open recently. He is now turning
his attention to 2 meters. We have a 5-element beam for 2, and he will be
checking it out and possibly mounting it on the clubhouse roof.
Sharon and Steve have offered to volunteer as chefs. Would be great to fire
up the grill for Saturday night dinner, and possibly provide a breakfast
Sunday AM. This venue (e-mail) appears to be the preferred communications
medium, so if you wish to volunteer or have any specific ideas, please leave
a message. Please also try to make the meeting Tuesday, June 20 (Sharon has
other activities that night) so that we can firm up our plans.
