Here is the propagation forecast for FYBO on Saturday.

UTC Radio Flux Planetary Largest
Date 10.7 cm A Index Kp Index

2006 Feb 04 80 5 2

While these are not great numbers, they are about as good as can be
expected at this point in the solar cycle. The next FYBO should be at
the beginning of the next cycle!!

This year 20 M should be open fairly solid all of the contest although
propagation to the east will be much better at the beginning than to
the west. 15 M should be open long, but later in the day. 40 M will be
good early and late in the contest and if you are in a major population
area it should be good all day. Here in the boonies, contacts on 40 M
will be slow between mid morning and late afternoon.

At KK6MC we will have 4 stations going in a multi-multi effort. 20 M CW
and 40 M CW will operate continuously. We will also put a 15 M station
on the air so look for us on 15 M. We also will have an SSB station on
that will go between 40 M, 20 M, and 15 M. At least that is the plan at
this point. Since there is not much QRP phone operation, we will
probably roam around quite a bit on SSB. We will try to call CQ on the
SSB QRP frequency as often as we can though.

If you have 15 M capability go to 15 M on the hour and half hour to
check for activity. That will maximize the cross section for making a
contact. A 40 M dipole will work for a 15 M antenna. SPCs count once
per band, so if you can pick up the same station on 15 M it will boost
your score a lot. 15 M is underused in QRP contests. Remedy that
problem.

Even if you don't go out in the field, please get on from your home
station and work us. This is by far the most fun you can have in a QRP
contest.

What are NQ7RP's plans??

The usual advice applies - Spread out on 20 M, use as many bands as you
can to maximize your multipliers, and work KK6MC on as many bands and
modes as you can.

KH6B - If you are reading this, we will look for you on 15 M and 20 M.
Please look for us as well. We should have marginal openings on both 20
M and 15 M to Hawaii during the times you are on. It is always nice to
hear you on these contests, particularly at this point in the solar
cycle.
