We are pleased to announce that NorCal will again sponsor the qrp
activities at QRPacificon again this year. Actually it is the Pacific
Division Convention of the ARRL, which is called Pacificon, but we like to
add our flavor to it.

We have several exciting speakers this year, including Dr. Megacycle, Jim
Duffey, from New Mexico. Jim will be speaking on batteries and antennas
for the field.

Jan Verduyn G0BBL, Steve Farthing, G0XAR, and Alan Rowe, G7PUB are coming
over from England and will be talking about the development and
improvement of the QRP2000, which is an advanced transceiver design that
uses the Tayloe mixing scheme. We are excited to have them, and look
forward to their presentation.

We also have 2 other speakers who have not confirmed as of today, but we
hope to have news this week to announce. As soon as we have it, we will
let you know.

4 Great QRP Presentations on Saturday make the event worth going to, but
there is much more planned. Friday night, we will have our annual QRP
Banquet at the famous California Burger, Jim Duffey is again in charge of
all the details. If you have suggestions, please email him. That will
begin at about 6:30 PM. Then we will return to the hotel where we will
have a vendor night in the QRP hospitality room with lots of visiting. If
you would like a free table, please let me know.

Saturday night will be our 2nd annual QRP Auction. The sale will start
at 8:00, with viewing of "treasures" at 7 PM. The club is going to
auction off qrp equipment to the highest bidder. This will be a
consignment sale, and the club will be charging a 5% commission with a
minimum of 50 cents up to $10, and 5% there after. If you have QRP gear
that you would like to sell, now is your chance. Bring out parts, unbuilt
kits, paddles, keyers, new rigs, old rigs what have you. If it is qrp
related, we will sell it. NO COMPUTERS PLEASE!!!!!!!!! After the auction
we will have our usual jam session. If you play a stringed instrument,
bring it along. We will be playing old time and blue grass. All are
welcome to join in. I will post a play list soon.

The location is the same as last year, the Marriott at San Ramon, and the
convention rate is $84 per room. If you are planning on coming, I would
suggest that you make your reservation soon, as they ran out of rooms last
year. The address of the hotel is 2600 Bishop Dr. and the phone number is
925-867-9200. Hope to see you there. 72, Doug, KI6DS
