Sorry about missing the October meeting, folks.  Had company and couldn't make it.  Transceiver is back, with a note from ICOM's service center that they couldn't find the problem I experienced.  The next time it happens I'm sending it to Washington (their headquarters) for service.

Company (my brother) helped me raise my 80 meter antenna.  Found signals on ALL bands, including 10, except for 80!!  I began making a chart for the tuner, but then the mast I was using emitted a loud BANG as it collapsed.  I'm getting a replacement, and I should be back up shortly.  This must be what they mean by frustration.
