Actually 6:00 to 9:00 is the "rush hour" on 40m. I have found the higher
up you go the less busy it becomes, however, I think you start running
into DX SSB somewhere above 7.050 or 7.060 and some digital above 7.070.
Maybe we all can listen in a little before 7:00 and see what areas seem
open.
I have found in the past, 7.025-7.045 are the most used that time of
evening.
(and most all other times, for that matter)
I think we can even try up in the 7.080 and above to 7.095 area- I never
hear much CW up there for some reason. ( don't really know why that is)
Perhaps, If we all listen in and scan the higher regions above 7.045
and see what might be a nice quiet spot (dream on) and make some
suggestions to the group.
For starters I would suggest 7.063, (FISTS is on 7.058 or 9), 7.073,
7.078, 7.088, 7.093- all odd numbers.
QRM IS YOUR FRIEND!
It is great practice to copy through qrm. You have to turn on the best
filter ever made--your brain. Ideal conditions are at least 2 ssb
stations and 4 or 5
cw stations sending from 10 to 35 wpm near your freq.
You just listen for the tone and speed of the station you are QSOing and
tune out the others as background noise. (easier said than done but it
works with practice)
I have noticed there is a couple of hams that seem to have a sked. at
8:00 on 7.045 also. I think the net Bill is talking about is on the week
ends.
Anyway, I'll check the upper regions tonight and see what's up there. Of
course,
as you all know a nice quiet spot one minute may become swamped with QRM
the next.----Thats the fun of hamming. hi hi
Post your findings and suggestions
Bill
