Hi fellow hambones

I thought if I share this problem, I might get some other takes on how
to try and go about figuring out where this interference is coming from.

I am on the receiving end of some interference.

A couple of weeks ago I spoke with the San Francisco section Technical
Advisor/Coordinator. One of his many talents is to help people figure
out where their interference is coming from.

Since talking to him I have run a rig on battery power.
Also run a rig on battery power while the apartment electricity was off.
Another time I ran on battery power when a corner of the intersection
was
without power.

I have awful interference on 10 through 80 meters, sometimes it is up
to S5 - S7 on sideband with pre amp. On AM with preamp, it is S7-S9
and at times s 20.

With the exception of the time that a small part of the neighborhood
was without power, the interference has been pretty bad most other
times. Sometimes it pulses on a couple of bands but usually it sounds
like driving
your car with AM radio, under power lines.

I have a small AM radio (portable) but it doesn't pick up the
interference. The guy suggested I walk around with a portable
shortwave radio and see in which direction does the interference grow.

Does any of the Hamilton group have a small radio I can borrow to try
and track this down or anyone have any expert gear and want to try and
find it themself?

A couple of days ago mister UPS man brought me a box from Amidon, them
toroid folks. I haven't had time to put them on yet, this weekend
probably. I don't know if it will change what my rigs are
picking up but at least it can help me keep a clean signal.
