Greetings all,
I always saw bookshelves as pretty low on our club's to-do list. Then,
after hearing that the repeater needed moving, it became clear that getting
shelving has moved to the top of the list.
The club needs to move the repeater because the scouts are moving into that
space. They've asked nicely, twice. We shouldn't make them ask a third
time.
The logical place for the repeater is where the massive bookshelves are now.
The bookshelves house important historical documents (and some dusty stuff
that can be chucked out). However, new shelving is needed. In talking with
Bill, I've learned that the space we have to make the place look great is
9-ft wide by 7-1/2 feet tall.
Can you, each of you reading this, please:
1) look around for shelving
2) look around for plywood in case we don't have shelving available
3) donate $15 or so toward a book-shelf project
If all members can donate a little extra money toward the shelving, it means
that we don't kill what little reserves we have. It means the repeater can
be moved without (too much) hassle. It means the club house can start to
look the way we envisioned.
I have asked a friend of mine to see what he has in storage. He's
liquidating some office furniture for a couple of office spaces and, besides
big ol' desks, he thinks there might be shelves in there, too.
I'll let y'all know what he finds. In the meantime, PLEASE look around your
own places to see if you have either shelving or plywood and planks, or a
little spare cash in order to make shelving.
That's it from me for now. Just your friendly reminder...
Two top priorities:
1) Move the repeater (and get bookshelves to make space to do so)
2) Build the antenna (stay tuned, no pun intended, for further details)
