All,
A number of good suggestions and volunteers for demonstrations are coming
in to the Education Committee, and it is probably time to start solidifying
who is doing what and what equipment they are bringing in.
In general, we plan 10-minute breaks each 50 minutes, with an hour for
lunch scheduled in the 11 am timeframe, depending. Folks should be back
from lunch - if they go out - before then and can be encouraged to be come
back after picking up food so as to be around for the last half hour of the
break. This gives time for two "big" 20-minute demos or talks and Jeff,
KC3HWU, has planned a discussion of CW and the club's efforts to improve
our CW.
Steve, N3SB, has talked about a demo of digital modes and Fred, K3TAZ, has
talked about SSTV. These demos can be part of the lectures or sidebars
during the breaks. We've got room 210 which is large, has windows, and two
breakout rooms.
If you'd like to give a demo or maybe provide RF from outside, please let
us know. It can be anything related to equipment or modes, however, also
note that this is a beginning class with a number of young folks already
signed up, so demos should be to either demonstrate basics or get them
excited about ham radio.
If you can let us know what you would like to do and what equipment you
would need or plan to bring, we can coordinate to prevent duplication,
schedule for your convenience, and make sure any support that is needed is
there.
Feel free to email me directly if you'd like; I'll coordinate with the rest
of the Committee.
Thanks,
Pete
