All,
With 2018 starting sunny and bright, albeit cold, here's a few items of
interest.
Our next meeting is Monday, January 8, 7:30 pm, at the regular location.
We've three - count them, three! - short talks lined up dealing with
Emergency Management topics.
The end of our membership year is, well, now. You are encouraged do renew
your membership and can do it either directly at the meeting (make sure we
write your name down!) or by mailing it to the PO box. When you renew
we'll add your name to the new reflector. The current plan is to disable
the old reflector on or about 31 January.
If you know of folks looking to get their license, we are offering a
Technician class course January 20 & 21, with testing the morning of Jan
27. The course is free and we now have 13 folks registered; the more the
merrier so if you know of someone interested, ask them to email to have
their names put on the roster. Testing, also free, is for all licenses
classes. If you plan to upgrade, please let me know so I can pass it on to
the test team so they can be prepared. Volunteers to give brief
demonstrations or show off equipment are always welcome, but let the
Education Committee know in advance so we can manage the time appropriately.
I'd like to prime the pump of our participation and mention that it is not
too soon to start thinking about Field Day and that while I've heard a
number of good ideas for group projects, the opportunity to champion one is
still open.
And as always, suggestions for Tech Talk topics, projects, club activities,
and improvements to the web site are always welcome.
Our two nets are the CARET Net Tuesdays at 8:30 pm, on all repeaters, and
the Central Maryland 6-m Net on Wednesdays, also at 8:30 pm. There was a
6-m opening over the weekend so I'm sure we'll have a lot to talk about on
the 6-m net.
See you at the next meeting, or on the air.
Happy New Year!
73,
Pete
