Good Tropo Inversions are a thing of beauty. Lovingly known as Layer ducting also. My experience was with a Motorola HT-200 modified as a two channel hand-held on 94 simplex and 31/91 (the old Tyson's Corner Repeater). Back in the day, (late Seventies) I was down at Bookhammer's Landing on the West Shore of Rehobeth Bay and while up on my Father-in-law's Tower at about 25 Ft. Level, (Jim W3OMN), I heard a WA1 Calling CQ, my Output was two Watts) thinking him to be a local on vacation, I gave him a shout and he came back to me asking for my QTH. It turned out that he was on Cape Cod. Straight Shot up the coast from Del. to the Cape. Had previously worked Mt. Graylock in Mass. during a VHF Contest using a Three Element Two Meter Beam up at 70 feet. Transceiver was a Gonset Communicator One. No experience like working what you can hear with low power. This was in the June VHF QSO Party in the Summer of Sixty-Six. That memorable!!!! That rig with a Lincoln Six Meter Regen. Rcvr Rig. was the best fun!!! Wish you well Good Hunting..... Joe - K3FPE
