This are the radar loops I have on my personal home page:
Local: http://radar.cbslocal.com/anim/wjz/radar_anim.gif
Regional: http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/Loop/northeast_loop.gif
National: http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/Loop/NatLoop_Small.gif
These images do not have AP removal routines cleaning them up.

I have found that when you see ground clutter in radar images, it's a good indication of ducting occurring. The WX service calls it anomalous precipitation. It is when the radar signal is pushed to the ground and is detected by the radar. If you look on LWX and find the radar loops, you will find patches of the stuff getting larger as the evening progresses on some nights. It usually happens when we have a temperature inversion.

E-layer hop distances increase with higher frequency -- maybe a common distance on 2m is around 1000 miles. I have one 2m Es contact -- to Oklahoma -- 30 watts SSB to a small yagi.
