wow - plenty of opportunity for the one satellite QSO we 'need' -- not that I want to reduce the fun factor.
I did read the satellite article for last years FD in QST -- recommended reading for anyone.
How large of a crew do you need each pass for operating? I presume one to point the antenna and one to operate -- maybe someone else to monitor the pass on the PC? Let's arrange for a sufficient team per pass opportunity. After N8PK scores our critical goal -- maybe we have someone who wishes to make our 'back-up' contacts.
other than N3VOP, maybe not much satellite experience amongst us (I did RS-12 and RS-10 a long time ago .....)
I suggest a small training module (that can even be emailed) that could include the QST article or whatever, and then a short lecture by N8PK. (not a bad thing to have 2 training modules in our FD). Of course include the nuances of using a linear transponder, and our 'less likelihood' of succeeded in the FM bird (ok N8PK might even score there ....).
