Pete

I was nearly brain dead from working on test specs this afternoon so I did some of same research.  Each qst review has a plot of transmit noise.
The case of operating 2 trsnsmitters on the same band only occurs when 2 hams live real close to each other and at field day.  A friend of mine runs an ft2000 into a 1200 watt amp into a large beam at 100 feet.  Yes nearby hams do notice his noise level.

I am changing my opinion some now that I see the numbers.  Some og these rigs have transmitted noise 10 dB or more higher than other rigs.  This means received noise is then 10 dB higher.

Last year the noise came from a rig running ssb so keying is not a factor here.  I will do some calculations versus antenna spacing if you don't beat me to it.  Meanwhile if we ran my ft950 on ssb things might not be so good for cw op on same band.  Let me calculate how far it needs to be away to not cause qrm.

Note many fine rigs are excellent for normal operating.   But when stations are too close for amount of noise power being transmitted we notice.
