In process of 'building' a new PC (windows 8 yikes!) to replace my 10 year old PC.  One of those cute Signalink boxes had been on wish list to replace the lowly rigblaster I have ($15 at a hamfest, old unit with serial port).  So I bought it with the cable to plug in back of my FT950.  


Expecting a cumbersome experience I finally took it out of the box.  I set the jumpers inside the box (not hard), read the instructions a little.  When you plug it into windows 8 it looks like nothing happens.  Well according to instructions it then grabs the drivers and its ready for action.  It worked!  In a few moments I was receiving and then after dialing the rig back to 20 watts I transmitted -- my IMD was 30 dB !  


Definitely a better setup than what I had.  I should have turned on WBJC while I was chatting with folk on PSK31.  


Now I just need that USB-serial adaptor to arrive (that has the right chip in it) so I can do the other modes with this PC as I 'need' that interface for logging (and catching spots).  


And I need to get my daughter (liberal arts educated) to clean up my windows 8 desktop when she has time.  Yes real funny that an EE 'needs' such help.
