[K3PZN-List] October Hamfest?

It comes down to money, is the club willing to pay for a room so we can host a free test session? I cannot make meetings at present due to work schedule so those of you interested in doing this will have to vote to spend the money, but since I have no idea how much such a thing costs I'll leave that to the rest of you who can go to the meeting and find out if it makes any sense.

It is my opinion that we should vote to do this at the beginning of the year so it can be in the ARRL hamfest & VE schedules all year. I'll willingly host an online sign-up form for people interested in signing up, I wrote one years ago using PHP and can simply change the date on the form and change the cost to FREE, then we can go to John Creel & say we have X number of people signed up by the end of July, then August, then September, and I'll be able to send him a list. When I've done this in the past, it used to net us more than 10 people testing for an ARRL session. Times have changed and there is no telling if doing the same will net the same, more, or fewer people. The only time we did a free session it was so late in confirming and advertising it that we had hardly any people show up, less than three one year that I remember, that hardly seems worth it no matter how little a room might cost, and I can't think a room costs a "little."

Phil

there may only be a few of us with the conviction to do a Laurel VE session -- so I suggest the ball is in our court to arrange this, and present it to the board.?

I am thinking that AA3IR and N3VOP (?) are Laurel VE's -- well except that Mike has a business to run.? So if we schedule WB8YYY and AA3IR as graders, would that insure integrity in the process?? Not that I can't carry the paper over to Mike and help him mind his store as required if we find our self short. ???

Ok what must we do to get the son of KE3FL to open a book?? Now that my son has a house, I should deliver a 2m rig, power supply and antenna to him -- he did ask me to retain N3YJR as his call sign (I kid you not it is not a vanity, but I do believe that VE NU3D (sk) somehow stacked the deck to pull this one off !)?

while our manpower is short -- we should consider how we can include some 'culture' into our hamfest.? for example, I would be game to organize a QRP gathering and arrange for 2-3 show/tell presenters in a one hour window.? of course I also need to help work the gate for a couple hours.??

I don't know, has anyone asked John Creel if they can even do it this year? If not I can do that, I'm still an ARRL, W5YI, & Laurel VE.?I'm hoping that my son will try again this year so I won't be able to help out with the grading portion of the session only gofering.
