[K3PZN-List] 10 meters is really active

I recall getting back into ham radio in 1989, buying a rig (not a very good one ....) and stringing up dipoles (in the snow) for 10 and 15 meters.  I didn't chase as much DX doing CW (as I mostly do now) back then - but seemingly I worked Japan every evening I was on it seemed.  To those who have not experienced high solar flux (or recently) this is nice propagation.

It even makes sense to call signals that aren't that strong (from your own 100 watt station).  I heard a station in Philippines on 10m, called once or twice with my call, and almost fell out of the chair when he came back.  It might have been that same evening I worked a Russian base in the center of Antarctica.

But don't neglect the low bands either - as I also worked KH2 (Guam) this past week on 40m (same station i had worked on 80m last winter).

Those of us who have been in the hobby for a long time also need to be patient and work some of those folk experiencing this kind of DX for the first time.  If its only 'about us' there won't be ham radio much longer.

I know that 10 meters being active is not new news but I just worked T32C, the DXpedition on Kiritimati Island (Christmas Island), RTTY 28.078 MHz (they are listening UP 1) using a dipole and a K3.
