[K3PZN-List] My First Transmitter

Curt,

I was first licensed back in the '60s with a commercial First Class  
Radiotelephone Operator ticket.  My first transmitter was a homebrew  
AM rig running on 600 kHz for WRVU, the campus carrier-current station  
at Vanderbilt.

It used a 6L6 plate-modulated by a pair of 6L6s.

When we moved the station down to 580 kHz and expanded the coverage on  
campus, I built a second transmitter with a 6146 modulated by a pair  
of KT-88s.

All my amateur homebrew transmitters have been solid-state QRP rigs,  
but I have some 6L6s and an old UTC modulation transformer on the  
shelf.  Hmmm ...
