[K3PZN-List] Club Station Information

ARES/RACES HF - I can imagine this means having ability to do two bands/two
radios at the same time.  We would need to retain 2 horizontal antennas for the
lower bands.  Perhaps nothing else here is needed, other that insured we have
the proper digital modes.

Competive HF - I can imagine wanting to add vertical capability on 80 and 160m.
We should note our HF 'windoms' are not to be used at >> 100 watts (or revisit
their actual rating and derate some) so this should be kept in mind !  I can
imagine a second beam antenna being of interest.

6m.  Definitely we need to establish our goals.  Is there a compeling ARES/RACES
interest on 6m (or utility?).  Here SSB uses horizontal and FM vertical by
custom.

Competitive VHF/UHF.  Its a lot of stuff (beams for 6, 2, 440, 1296 etc.) so its
a mere thought at this point.  Perhaps we can rely on donations if there is
enough interest to install the stuff - and noting we only have capability to 440
at this time.

HF remote.  A single operating position that can be used with a beam and wire
antenna seems like it should be in our roadmap.  I don't know of any current
members who can't have a home station, but we should prepare for it in our
plans.  I can imagine we need a more sophisticated antenna interface (selection,
grounding when not in use, tuning) than we have.

Internet - we would need this for (a) ARES/RACES, (b) Assisted Class competing,
(c) remoting our station.  Maybe county will support us here.

Subject: [K3PZN-List] Club Station Information

At the meeting we talked briefly about performing some repairs and upgrades to
the K3PZN club station in the coming months. The first part of this project is
gathering requirements and information about what we want to be able to do when
we are done.  To support the county and ARES/RACES operation we will have a
minimum capeability of HF operation on 80-10, 2m FM (2 rigs) ,  70cm FM.

I'd like your feelings on the following questions:

1. Is there a specific peice of equipment you want to see?

2. Is there a specific band or mode that you'd like to see added (it is safe to
assume that HF rigs have a sound card interface available)?

3. Is there a limitation in the current station setup you'd like to see fixed?

So for example my input so far is:

#2 - We have 6m capeable radios now, but no 6m antennas. I'd like to see a
6m antenna added to the station.

#3 - I'd like to replace and old uncomfortable chair or two with a more
comfortable one (those chairs were not new when I joined the club 20 years ago)

#3 - We need to resolve the feedline issues from the station to the towers.
