[K3PZN-List] FT-8900r Software, USB-din cable?

I picked up a Yaesu FT-8900r but I need to know if the club/users has/have standardized on any particular memory management software for the rig?

I found software and a cable at

for $38 I don't even know if there is another option. Also, I can't believe it is all that difficult to make the cable, on the other hand buying the USB cable and a mini din-male connector might price it at the same cost as simply buying one. I looked at the clone cable (has anyone made on yet?) and it is two wires, ground and one data line.

Any ideas or advice?
