The 114.8 PL is required for repeater access from 2300 - 0600 nightly
and in the event of a band opening it could be manually enabled for a
few hours if one of the control ops feels it is necessary to prevent
interference. It is always transmitted by the repeater. So in general
its a good idea to program your radios to have the tone, it won't ever
hurt and it will help sometimes. We have no plans to require the tone
full time.
On the way home I noticed that the 6M and 70cm repeaters were on but the
2M was not. I went up to the site and tightened the power connector on
the PA, problem solved. I also set the clock while I was up there and
put the controller in normal day mode.
