[K3PZN-List] How To Make SAT contacts

Pat

The forum on using simple gear to make satellite contacts sounds interesting, but I have another commitment on Sunday.  So please capture the essence of the briefing as I am interested in the details, including what kind of gear I would need to procure.  I used to enjoy satellite operations when RS-10 and RS-12 were around - but I guess 10m downlinks have gone the way of the dodo bird.

I will try to stop by on saturday to see what is going on.

Also on my project link is to create a PICAXE based beacon, as I haven't thought of any more creative uses yet.

------------------------------------
BARC & ARRL Maryland State Convention
--------- THIS WEEKEND -------------

I will be working at the AMSAT booth
all day Saturday in Exhibition Hall.
Do drop by!  We will have satellite
contact demos info posted at the booth,
to take place I believe just outside
the hall.

On Sunday morning we will hold two
AMSAT forums at the hamfest.  The first
at 9 AM on HOW TO make satellite contacts
using simple (portable) FM and SSB gear
with (cheap but effective) homemade
antennas.  Presented by Richard Crow,
N2SPI, from upstate New York and Dee
Interdonato, NB2F, from New Jersey.

The second forum will be hosted by our
own Rich Mitchell, N3III, and me about
microcontrollers (PIXAXE and Arduino
types) and the PICetSat balloon
application, complete with a demo
flight similar to the one we had at our
Mason-Dixon Hamfest last October.

PLEASE C'MON OUT to the hamfest this
weekend.

Official hamfest details are found at:
http://www.gbhc.org

Hope to see y'all there!

Cheers,

Pat Kilroy
