Carroll County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes, 9 November 2009

President Andy Leeds WO3L called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.  
Sixteen members and no guests were present.

The meeting started with introductions around the room.

Evening Presentation:

Pat N8PK presented some data on the CarrollSat1 Balloon launch, which  
was a part of the technical seminar, which occurred during the  
Mason-Dixon Hamfest on October 25th.

Announcements:

The next CCARC meeting will be the CCARC Holiday Party Dinner on  
Sunday December 6th at the VFW hall in Westminster.

The next Board meeting will be on Wednesday November 18th, 7:30 PM at  
the Emergency Services Training Center in Westminster.

Pat N8PK announced that two PICetSAT or SIMSAT launches are coming up  
over the next two weeks, from Pat’s back yard.

Andy WO3L announced that he would be looking for some help within the  
next two weeks to put up a 60 foot self-supporting tower and beam  
antenna

 From the mailbag:

Mail received: We received a note from the Carroll County Land Trust,  
and the Verizon velocity fundraising program.

Secretary’s Report: The report was accepted as published on the reflector.

Treasurer’s Report: Pete W3GVX presented the treasurer’s report,  
detailing current balances, income, and expenses. The report was  
accepted by the membership present.

Committee Reports:

ARES / RACES: The next RACES Drill will be on Tuesday 10-November,  
7:30 PM at the Carroll County EOC. Everyone is reminded that the CARET  
Net is held every Tuesday evening at 8:30 PM on the 145.410 repeater.

Repeater: The North Carroll repeater systems and BBS appear to be  
operating fine. The Sykesville repeater system may be in need of some  
attention; receive sensitivity seems to be down.

DCS Committee: The DCS Committee will be meeting on the fourth Monday  
of the month.

Station Committee: A Kenwood TS-440 has been donated to the club. The  
radio is not frequency stable, and needs some repairs.

Old Business:

Motion from Chuck N3TOT: That the club purchases a Honda 2KW Generator  
I2000EU, cost not to exceed $1000. Seconded by John K3KWO. The motion  
was passed by the membership present.

New Business:

None.

General Discussions:

Bob Rhodes announced that he’s looking to borrow a CW paddle to test  
out an idea to see if a woman he knows with limited communications  
ability could use it to communicate with others via CW.

Tony KF3AK advised the club that he was unable to locate the club’s  
Gin Pole when he looked for it a few weeks ago.

Door prize – Jack Kolb donated a VCR as tonight’s door prize. Steve  
N3SB won the prize.

Andy WO3L adjourned the meeting at approximately 8:55 PM.
