Correct, drive is bootloader followed by / , swap then /home.

(General course of action for all drives I partition)

[/boot can be found in first partition under  /  ]

Any other partition follows after /home.
/ size depends on OS needs (usually around 10G)

swap is twice RAM of system (2G minimum otherwise)

/home is based on need (config plus personal files)

[most user files is on seperate USB external drive so /home could be 

smaller than it is, about 15G]

 

The IDE error has not occurred again.

It's wierd but it occurs when I shutdown from login prompt but not from GNOME.

(I don't shutdown from login but I had lately while trouble shooting so it could be

 an error I had for a while now but never noticed).

 

Current plan of action is to bring drive to club meet so Phil can check it with the

USB enclosure he has.

It might be good to have someone else look at it in case I am still being stupid

about something and not seeing the problem.
