[K3PZN-List] Who is the resident computer expert of the club ??

Sean,
What flavor/version of Linux are you using and how old is the pc/bios
you are using? I looked up your error and it seems there's some sort of
a kernel bug going around that is giving this same drive error.

It seems as though the system is not shutting down properly and the
kernel is trying to halt the IDE channel twice and this is causing a
conflict thus confusing the kernel and never really shutting down all
the way.

Here's a link I found that may be of some help...

This is the link to the main thread on the Ubuntu forums:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/193125

This is an external link from one of the posts:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11994

It's worth a shot to look into this (even if it's not the solution for
your issue).

Anthony, KB3RJH

Ubuntu Release 8.10 (Intrepid)
Kernel Linux 2.6.27-16 (Generic)
Gnome 2.24.1
